Phone Calls
Students throught the day made numerous phone calls to a plethora of area residents inorder to conduct a survay regarding, Antarctica, Global Warming, Oil production etc.
Some trends were:
1. A lack of caring from people, especially the younger crowd.
2. People wanting a financial change, lower prices, especially Oil.
3. Most people wanted whatever helped them.
4. Younger people said yes, older people said no, Regarding Drilling for Oil in Antarctica.

The Scott Polar Research Institute
The Scott Polar Research Intitute was founded in 1920.
Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his 4 crew members died while returning from the South Pole in 1912.
There main focus is to research issues in Antartica both in environmental sciences and social sciences.
Some of the groups that are involved in the issues are:
Glaciology and Climate Change Group
Glacimarine Environments Group
Polar Landscape and Remote Sensing Group
Polar Social Science and Humanities Group
Circumpolar History and Public Policy Research Group (HiPP)

Lynn Cox
In 2002 she swam a mile in 32 degree weather. She broke the men and women record her 33 mile to the English Channel. When she was 14 she swam 21 miles in 12 hours to the California Catalina channel. She was the first too swim from Alaska to the Soviet Union in 40 degree water.
B15
ATSR-2 has been used to track a large iceberg which broke away or calved from the Ross Ice Shelf in the Antarctic. The iceberg, at nearly 300km in length and 40km in width, was one of the largest ever seen at the time of its formation in March 2000. Since then, it has broken into two main icebergs and other smaller ones have formed including B-17, probably caused by B-15 crashing into the ice-shelf. Over 90% of the ice locked in icebergs is to be found in Antarctica. is unlikely that this particular event is connected to global warming as the advance of the ice sheet is a continual process. Even with the calving of this monster, the edge of the ice-shelf has simply returned to where it was about 50 years ago. If it melts at will flood some of the world. Try to so down global warming. It is larger then the island of Jamaica. It calved from the Ross ice shelf in march 2000 breaking up into sever ices in 202 and in 2003. In November 2003, after the separation from B-15J iceberg, B-15A drifted away from Ross Island on the open waters of the Ross Sea. if it is not tacking care of then some people are going to get flooding.
